What is Being Said About The Old Erie?

~

From www.sryacuse.com © - the Dining Forum:

The Old Erie? - Owner’s name is Ted Tomandl. Worked at Rosalie’s.  Like others before him, he brought his experience with him and is doing it right.
~

Went there on a Friday night and the food was wonderful. Some changes to the menu but nothing wholesale. Overall the service was great and food excellent.
~
Went to this place for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Had poor expectations ahead of time, but was quickly impressed by how good everything was. I definitely recommend it!

~

I stopped by after the Jordan fest (great car show) a couple of Sundays ago.

From a restaurant owner's perspective, It was very good.

~

Great! Thanks!  I’ll look forward to going back soon.

~

I think their new menu resembles ... Dominick’s.

We also hear directly from our very satisfied customers through Email, FAX and by telephone:

Thanks for an outstanding brunch today - it was top notch.  Hope you can get the word out via some outdoor banners, email lists and/or press releases so the place will be full on Sundays.  The food is the best brunch food around.  We'll be back! - Lisa K.

Beth and Ted, your meal preparations for my wife's office and our holiday home party were received very well. The girls at the office all wanted to know where the food came from and everything was also a hit at our home. The girl who helped set this all up was very accommodating and very nice. ... have a nice New Year and thank you, - Bill E.

Ted & Beth, Thought I'd try the high tech way to reach you.  We enjoyed our dinner last Thursday.  Keep up the good work. Best Regards - Mike and Linda G.

Thank you so much for the excellent food and service for my parents 50th wedding anniversary party.  Lisa did a wonderful job serving and helping us with the details. I really appreciate all of your efforts. The food was unbelievable and definitely exceeded my expectations. Everything was prepared perfectly. The Stuffing was the best I have ever had! - Sincerely, Karen T., Lake Mary Florida

The Old Erie and Weedsport's History

Weedsport was Incorporated in 1834, just 7 miles north of Auburn, 87 west of Utica, 26 from Syracuse, and by canal 197 from Albany.  Weedsport, named after the founder; had a post office, 1 Presbyterian and 1 Methodist Church; 1 ashery; tannery; 8 stores; 3 forwarding establishments; 3 taverns; 1 furnace manufacturer; 1 saw mill; and 120 dwellings. By the time it was incorporated, Weeedsport was a thriving village of almost 2,000 people, Weedsport was the canal port for the northern part of the county and for Auburn.

Weedsport and its importance to Cayuga County and the County Seat, the City of Auburn, has remained and grown over the years.  Today there are several manufacturers, a wide variety of businesses and a rapidly growing number of private homes.  The canal has long bypassed Weedsport as a major transportation method but the New York State Thruway, Interstate 90, runs along the northern edge of the village.  Just like in the canal days, today Weedsport is the "port" for northern Cayuga county and the City of Auburn.

Tens of thousands of business travelers as well as vacationers travel to and through Weedsport on the way to destinations through out Central New York and the Finger Lakes.  The many vacation sites, specialty shops and businesses, vineyards and wineries of the Finger Lakes are only a few minutes from the Weedsport area.

The Old Erie has been a landmark of the village for many years and is the first place people think of when going to meet friends, celebrate those special occasions or for a wonderful evening of culinary delight.  Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner for two or getting together with family or friends, you just know that the Old Erie is THE place to go.

Chef Ted, a graduate of Johnson and Wales University School of Culinary Arts, winner of the coveted Cordon Bleu', has produce epicurean delights at the Boar's Head Inn in Charlottesville, Wintergreen Resort and Rosalie's Cucina in Skaneateles, NY.  Chef's wife, Beth, prepares all of the desserts and baking for the restaurant and the off site catering.

Chef Ted and his lovely wife, Beth, are looking forward to being your hosts
as you visit the wonderfully beautiful Finger Lakes area.
